Balázs Rózsa Represented BrainVisionCenter in Hong Kong at the Asia Summit on Global Health

Our Founder and Scientific Director, Balázs Rózsa, was invited to participate as a speaker at the globally recognized Asia Summit on Global Health in Hong Kong. The summit is considered one of the world’s leading international platforms connecting healthcare, biotechnology, scientific research, and innovation leaders from across the globe. 

During the visit, Prof. Rózsa held high-level meetings with the leadership of several outstanding research and translational institutions, including the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, the Centre for Translational Stem Cell Biology, the Center for Neuromusculoskeletal Restorative Medicine, and BiomOrgan. 

These discussions opened promising opportunities for future scientific collaborations and highlighted the significant potential impact of advanced neurotechnology and functional imaging solutions in translational and clinical research environments. 

As part of the visit, Prof. Rózsa also delivered a lecture at The University of Hong Kong, hosted by the internationally renowned neuroscientist Michael Häusser. The presentation provided an opportunity to showcase the latest developments in high-speed 3D functional imaging and to discuss future directions in neuroscience research and technology development with leading experts and researchers. 

The visit further strengthened BrainVisionCenter’s international scientific presence and fostered new opportunities for collaboration at the intersection of neuroscience, neurotechnology, and translational medicine.

Another PhD Researcher Joins the BrainVisionCenter Team

At BrainVisionCenter, one of our primary goals is to empower young researchers and support their scientific careers. As part of this commitment, we are proud to announce that another member of our team has successfully earned a PhD degree. 

The title of Miklós Madarász’s doctoral thesis is:
“The applicability of chronically implantable and transparent microECoG devices for the simultaneous measurement of spontaneous calcium and electrophysiological activity in awake mice.” 

During the research, the applicability of transparent, implantable ECoG devices based on Parylene HT/ITO and Thiol-ene/acrylate/SIROF was investigated through both in vitro and in vivo experiments in awake mice using two-photon imaging techniques. 

As a central objective of the study, the devices were implanted onto the cortical and hippocampal surfaces of mice, enabling the long-term validation of simultaneous electrocorticography (ECoG) and two-photon calcium imaging measurements. The findings confirmed that all tested devices are suitable for combined ECoG and two-photon calcium imaging studies in awake mice. 

The devices demonstrated excellent optical transparency, while their electrochemical properties enabled the recording of high-quality signals with minimal electrode loss even several months after implantation. 

Overall, the dissertation concluded that the presented transparent, implantable microECoG devices are highly promising tools for chronic, simultaneous electrocorticography and two-photon calcium imaging studies in awake mice, as well as for the parallel electrophysiological and optical mapping of cell-level activity in neural networks. 

These results represent another important milestone in the advancement of our Institute’s neurological research activities.

Two of Our Researchers Elected to the Hungarian Young Academy

We are proud to share that two of our outstanding colleagues, Nóra Lenkey and Levente Cseri, have been elected as members of the Hungarian Young Academy. 

Operating under the auspices of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the organization represents the voice of early-career researchers in Hungary, advocating for their community both nationally and internationally. As a grassroots scientific society, it supports the professional development of young researchers while also strengthening the connection between the scientific community and society. 

Members of the Hungarian Young Academy actively contribute to the scientific activities of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and play an important role in shaping the future of the research landscape.
